They've also got I think the runner up of one of the Football Superstar series, he is a great player. Plays central midfield for them, great positional awareness, from what I've seen just lacks that final ball but I think sometimes thats due to his team mates not thinking as quickly as he does.

Jack Petrie I think you mean?  Be interesting to see how Olympic go now that Dixie is off on holidays.  They're one of the more under performing squads in the BPL this season I think.

yes, Jack is his name I'm fairly sure. Good player.

Olympic also have this feisty little left winger playing for them.. name is Danny something. He's a little nugget but boy he can play.

I'm at the Fire games every second week for home clashes. Make the trip down to Perry Park for the away clashes but other than that, can't get to many due to travel issues. The quality of some players really shine above others and it's a wonder why some A-League clubs haven't had a look around the BPL/QSL with what they do with the VPL

You would be surprised at the number of players that have been looked at by A-League clubs but given the relatively small success of some of these players (Smits, Mundy etc) some are reluctant to give up what in some cases are well paying jobs in their non football world and risk it all for a base A-League salary contract.  It happens.....

it's amazing how quick the BPL is in terms of the ball buzzing around the park.  I'm not even concerned that the standard is not HAL.  I don't expect it to be.  I to have been to a number of grounds and never felt out of place.  Even at the so called ethnic clubs such as Bris City, Olympic and Rocklea.  They are all friendly.

do yourself a favour and get out and watch the local talent run around.

I watched Mitchy and Mounties on Sat night.  I didn't know Mitchy had Esala Masi playing for them.  Did he play NSL or HAL.  Can't remember.  I could google it I suppose.

Esala played in the NSL for Wollongong and Newcastle, and to this day remains a quality striker. Despite being 39, it would be hard to find anyone within the local comps that can match his strength and aerial prowess.

Olympic have Matt Mundy playing for them now too.. amazing how a squaddie in the HAL can just dominate the BPL.

Say what?

Olympic do have Daniel Byrne and Josh McVey playing for them though.....

Josh Mcvey is at Albany Creek

Is Mcvey still involved with the Roar NYL setup?

When did he move? Could have sworn i saw him play against us last month.  Playing in Div 1 eh? Interesting. I rated him higher than that.

He was playing Reserve grade most of the early season at Olympic, and with Albany Creek one of his Junior clubs, he decided to move back for first team football. They are coming a close 2nd behind Mitchie, so it doesn't come as a complete shock that he moved. For me, any of the top 3 or 4 clubs from Division 1 could step up to this years premier league and be competitive.

There's no promotion relegation this year though, so that point is kind of moot. Not sure I see ACE getting a gig in next years NEW BPL either.  Something fishy going on at Olympic, a mate of mine just left there to go and play Metro 1 at Jimboomba...... really?
