McClaren not even blowing bubbles in Germany division 2.  Not sure what that says about the A League, but it certainly can't be construed as complimentary.

Shame for him and for us he left.

And Tommy Oar had a grand total of about 73 minutes for those giants of world football APOEL after 7 league games last time i looked.

The vast majority of Australian players are better off in the A League.

Yeah, it hasn't worked for either Macca, Borello or Oar.   Borello has probably the best chance of breaking through.

Agree. That jersey should have been retired with Thomas.  Profoundly disrespectful.  Typical of the Aloisis.

Like everyone else I was disappointed the number wasn't retired. Broich's position in our history is unchallenged.
I suspect he had fought management over the style of football played and perhaps even stretching back beyond the Aloisis. He has probably been paying the price.

My take too, Murk.  Looks awfully like a spiteful piece of deliberateness.

My dislike of the current coaching regime knows no bounds.

Outrageous decision, I know that no single player should ever be bigger than the club but Thomas is a club immortal and deserved to have the jersey retired.

Just poor management, like their trying to sweep Broich under the rug.

My thoughts too!
How do you support a team and club but not it's management!?
Until the current group of mis managers move on I'll do my own version of taking the knee!

Gentlemen,

1. Was Broich a one club man?
2. Was he at the club over 10 years?
3. Was he the all time leading goal scorer?
4. Was he club captain?
5. Do you wear his name and number on your back?
6. Was he there from game 1
7. Do you want Matt's number retired when he finally leaves?

I think you are all being over emotional.

By your standards within 20 years ( the club should last that long?) all numbers will start in the 30's

Get over it and move on.

It's just a number.

The irony
The female kangaroo has a pouch. The male kangaroo doesn't. So the male kangaroo has pouch envy. "Why don't i get a pouch? I've got things to carry too. At least give me a pocket".

The struggle to free myself from restraints becomes my very shackles.

There is probably a more up to date list with proper numbers but with who would you keep to restructure/rebuild the team for next season. I think aloisi has got/kept the older players to bring through out future that are not ready:

-

Coming off contract:
-

Contracted till the end of 2017/18 Season:
Eric B **** build left side attack around him; could upgrade to marquee if does really well for maccarone
Peter Skapetis **** keep if possible; good player potentially
21. Mitchell Oxborrow ****keep -- potential as CM/CDM
20. 19. Corey Gameiro ***** good RW/Striker to build team around
18.17.
15. Brett Holman (Marquee) *** try to keep as non-marquee
14. Nicholas D'Agostino **** is he ready to be our goal scorer -- skapetis or gameiro better in my opinion
13. Connor O'Toole *** keep (can he takeover from brown ?)
12. Corey Brown ***keep
11. Jamie Young *** keep
10. Jack Hingert *** have my doubts but keep
9. Daniel Bowles *** keep

7. Avram Papadopoulos *** keep

5. Joe Caletti *** takeover from McKay --- big year this year to prove his worth and progression

Contracted till the end of 2018/19 Season:
4. Shannon Brady
3. Thomas Kristensen (Fgn)
2. Luke DeVere

Contracted till the end of 2019/20 Season:
1. Dane Ingham

Players to be let go at end of season
Massimo Maccarone (Fgn) (Marquee)
Fahid Ben Khalfallah (Fgn) --- I think they ll keep him for another year but shouldn't
Jade North - great servant to club but need to bring youth or give bowles a go; coaching role
16. Matt McKay - tough call but he needs to go at end of season or season after; coaching role ?
8. Michael Theo - let go if another injury hit season
6. Jacob Pepper - give youth a go

Like everyone else I was disappointed the number wasn't retired. Broich's position in our history is unchallenged.

Great to see you trolling for the Roar..
1 No he wasn't but he rebuilt his career with us and indeed ended it as  Roar player.
2 No.
3 Indeed he was not a striker and did not have his goal total boosted by taking penalties. For these purposes shouldn't penalties count as 15% of a regular goal..
4 Can't quite remember but I believe he did serve once or twice.
5 N/A
6 This is close to repetition of 2.
7 Not necessarily - and Matt has had two numbers.

Now explain why your questions deny us the sentiment we have for Broich's position in Roar history?

There is talk about about an injury replacement for De Vere.
Given the age of Jado and Papa, and yellow cards, red cards etc, we will need someone. We are one card away from being from a problem.
If and when Kristensen returns he may end up playing centre back.
What are the chances of finding an injury replacement?
Maybe from the local league?

No player under 35 need apply.

We've already broken the oldest A League team ever fielded record twice this season.  The hat trick is within reach!
