We have named our 18-man squad to face Melbourne City in Sunday evening's Hyundai A-League Round 19 clash at Suncorp Stadium.

Dynamic attacker Fahid Ben Khalfallah returns to the squad after serving a one-match suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the Round 17 win against Perth Glory.

Versatile defender Jacob Pepper has also been named in the side as has fan-favourite Ivan Franjic.

The Roar and City have taken a win apiece in two previous meetings this season with Brisbane having the last laugh in our last meeting back in Round 7.

A third straight Hyundai A-League win for John Aloisi's side would consolidate our place in the top six.

Head Coach John Aloisi has named our 18-man squad to face Melbourne City at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday evening.1 / 19

Also worth noting, for the first time ever, the W-League game will have shuttle buses from their respective routes to the game. From 2pm I believe, per Roar Corp's FB page

Azarni is going to give Brown a very, very hard time.

I think we're going to be overrun.  So much class in this City side, and they're just starting to click.   Once Fornaroli is back, I reckon they could beat SFC for the Championship.

Dario is starting to look like a good fit up front.

I have to admit that most comments from Minister Peter Duddo baffle me at the best of times and his warning to illegal athletes coming to Australia on the pretext of representing their countries with the intent to seek to stay on in Australia is yet  another. Given Azarni is of Iranian heritage and hopefully does well enough to play for Australia one day, it does seem to me that broadening the gene pool might not be a bad idea. Our own Akbari is another to come along the migrant path.
Hopefully Azarni does not rip us apart with his dribbles, but the way our defence has been opened up this season, I think we could be in for another bad day at the office. If not Arzani, then they have a number of other dangerous players.
Much depends on which Brisbane turns up. Will it be the tired, dull unimaginative, disorganized, undisciplined and slow Brisbane, or will it be the high intensity creative version which we have not seen much of?
I will be there again, but expecting the former version rather than the latter. Hope to be surprised but expect to be disappointed. It has been that sort of season.
Its a relief that Gameiro is in the squad after last week. But, the likes of Muscat and co will hardly be deterred by the paltry sanction applicable to attempting to break legs these days.

Dear of Dear!
Just got home from the game.
A game between two poor teams lit up only by the skills of Azarni in the first half and the glimpse of Henrique on the big screen in the second.
No wonder people are staying awful in droves. What a poor advert for football by both teams.
JA is not responsible for the awful pen by Maccarone, nor the brain fart by Jamie Young that led to the second goal, but if he thinks that is finals football he must think intensity is where you buy camping gear, because there was no intensity about the way Roar played. McKay and TK were bloody awful.
I am not sure why the VAR did not give us a penalty in the first half. It looked clear as was the second one which was missed in the end. We really should give the VAR away.
Roll on 31 March, which is the last home game. I just want this season over to be over. I really struggle with the MOM nominations. Henrique?
Congratulations to the W-League team.

We pressed for 15 minutes then were stuffed for the rest.
Totally agree with Chico Raul -- lack drive - energy through the middle from TK and MM.
Our poor home form relates to the poor fitness due to injuries. Suncorp exacerbates the lack of fitness

Different CB pairing again... Brown stuggled against Arzhani.

Donate a goal + miss penalty + don't get one = no chance

Should we go after some of the youth league talent at WSW or City?

Just seen the presser on facebook and agree with JA on a number of points  but still believe there was a lack of intensity (maybe the lack of crowd perhaps, I don't know) but there was a real problem in our midfield with too many turnovers and lack of ability to win the second ball. We would win the ball and give it back. Possibly sheer weight of numbers which would point to how City were set up structurally. And whilst Azari was brilliant and an individual as JA said, at least in the first half, his positioning and team play was excellent, and in the first half we had no answer. That through ball for the first goal was class. Time was we had Broich doing the classy stuff and we don't any more.

Pepper was pulled out of position badly leaving the space for the well timed pass. TK's reaction to losing the ball to Arzhani highlights he is not fit yet.

If O'Toole is not fit for Victory then Barborosus will have a field day.
Who is the third choice left back ? Ingham

Well in to the girls. The only good thing about this club this season. My interest in the league has dropped so much, that I watched the league game for about 15mins then turned it off. The men certainly hasn't done any of the fans proud. Can't wait till end of season when all the olds get moved on 2 seasons too late.

I too have lost interest in the League to the point where I'm not watching games except while doing other things, and, really, I can't justify Fox on that basis, so will be giving it the flick.  Most of the football has been boring in the extreme  No wonder ratings are diving.  Who would watch this low standard crap?  The commentators went on and on about what an exciting contest the game was last night.  Well, the only time it was exciting was when Azarni had the ball.   The standard of football was woeful.

We're in for the same boring 10 teams and the salary cap again next season no matter what happens.  FIFA has fucked this up.  If they had got rid of Lowy and Gallop the first time around, we might have been able to expand next season.  Looks like Lowy won.  I wonder what goes on inside his head.  How does he manage to look at this failing football league and think he and Gallop are the best people for the  job?

What was the crowd last night, by the way?  It looked tiny on tv.  I'm holding to my Aloisi boycott - I will not go to Suncorp while he is still coach of our club.

Better than I expected.  I wonder if they're buffing up the numbers?

I think a lot of people went along to support the women's team and give them a big cheer which they deserved for winning the minor premiership.

More enjoyable to watch than the men that is for sure, standard has improved so much in women's football.

Official attendance for the w league match was about 4500 ish from memory. Most stayed for the men?s....so how many turned up for the women and stayed on, and how many came early for the men is anyone?s guess.
